Out to Lunch Revisted by Mandy Holland
PRESS RELEASE Out To Lunch- Revisted On Sunday 31st August the touring exhibition of Out to Lunch In 1992, Mandy Holland found herself in a psychiatric hospital with her camera and a compulsion to document the experience. The resulting work, including snapshot images, diary writing and laser prints illustrates the chaos of breakdown. Later, revisting the hospital, images of a constructed and collage type were produced in an attempt to reclaim the space from the nightmarish to the everyday. These pictures illustrate the artists changed understanding of her experience of mental illness, the impact it has had on her life and the lifelong implications of experiencing the psychiatric system. The work, rooted in the artists personal history, addresses issues of mental health and offers a unique exploration of mental illness within our society. Holton Lee is situated off the A351 ( next to the Romany Industrial Estate) just 6 miles from Poole and 4 miles from Wareham. Entry to the exhibition is free
