PRESS RELEASE

An exhibition of paintings inspired by the natural world

Former Arts Institute student Carmen Watson holds her
first solo exhibition  at Faith House, Holton Lee from
Sunday 5th – Friday 31st October 2003 with a private view
from 11.30 – 1.30 on Saturday 4th October

Carmen completed an MA in Natural History Illustration and Ecology in 2002 at Royal College of Art and is a graduate  of the Arts Institute at Bournemouth.  Her paintings are inspired by the natural world and she aims to draw peoples attention to the urgent need for its protection.

Working directly from life the exhibition at Faith House includes a study of the birds of Alderney along with new work inspired by the natural beauty of the woodland, heathland, reedbeds and harbour around Holton Lee.

Whilst establishing herself as a professional artist Carmen works at Holton Lee as a personal carer. She  also hopes to run workshops , working with disabled people, to create work relating to the theme of the exhibition and encourage participants to explore and develop painting skills whilst looking at the natural world.

Anyone interested in taking part in the Disability Art workshops should contact Sara St. George at Holton Lee on 01202 625562 to book a space.
